All families in the world deserve decent and affordable home, was the message sent by partner families, guests and other supporters of HFH Macedonia, during the “Habitat day - get partner families together”, a special event held on 18th of June in Action Park at Skopje Fair.
- The inside of the house was damp. During the winters, my children would get sick because of it. We didn't have a floor at all; we walked on the dirt ground. The windows were old and deteriorated. The house had no insulation on the ceiling whatsoever. With this loan, our home finally became decent place to live and raise children in. Now my children are less opt to get bronchitis and have fragile health as often, said Tadzedin Sulai, a partner family member, from Gostivar, Macedonia - on our special event day, when the Sulai family received a special acknowledgement as a family that most effectively used their loan funds from the Home Improvement Fund.
The Sulai family is a Roma family living on the outskirts of Gostivar - a small town in Western Macedonia. Tadzedin and his brothers used the loan to complete the ceilings and the floors in their house. In the house, there are total of 17 people sharing five rooms.
The event, which Habitat for Humanity Macedonia organized for the first time, allowed partner families to forget for a moment their daily problems and get together.
- We are going to organize such an event annually, raise the number of participants with raising the number of partner families of Habitat for Humanity Macedonia. Of course, with ultimate goal to create community who will remind the public continually that all families in the world deserves simple, decent and affordable home – says Darko Buldioski, PR coordinator of HFH Macedonia.
