Legalization of housing for Roma families
Habitat for Humanity Macedonia, Foundation Open Society - Macedonia (FOSM), and the National Roma Center (NRC) signed a cooperation and implementation agreement for the project "Legalization of Housing for the Roma" on January 18, 2012. The project is designed to provide financial, administrative and technical assistance for the legalization of homes inhabited by Roma population and will be implemented from 2012 to 2015.
Zoran Kostov, the Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity Macedonia, noted that the organization in collaboration with a microcredit institution, will help the Roma by providing interest-free micro-loans and technical assistance. The project will significantly reduce legal uncertainty and provide reliable homes, as well as safer future for the legal homeowners.
