The Long-Expected Amendments to the Housing Law Adopted

After several years of Habitat Macedonia’s intensive involvement in the process of improving the relevant legal framework, the Parliament of the Republic of N. Macedonia adopted in July 2025 the long-awaited amendments to the Housing Law. With this, one of the organization’s strategic priorities has been fulfilled. Namely, Housing Law is considered an essential prerequisite for establishing more efficient instruments to address challenges in the housing sector, especially in multi-family (collective) apartment buildings.

A Volunteer Day to Remember 25 of May

The 20th anniversary of Habitat Macedonia, together with the symbolic remembrance of the former Youth Day, served as an occasion to revive - for at least one day - the tradition of once-popular youth volunteer work. To mark the occasion, a special volunteer day was organized on May 25, 2025.

On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the founding of Habitat Macedonia, members of the Governing Board and the Assembly of the association undertook a one-week visit to Habitat partner affiliates in Florida, USA.

The U.S. President Jimmy Carter, Habitat for Humanity’s most famous volunteer, died peacefully on Sunday, December 29, at his home in Plains, Georgia.

Home Equals Campaign is gaining momentum in Shuto Orizari

Shuto Orizari, one of the two Macedonian municipalities that are hosting the national level activities of the global HFHI campaign Home Equals, was a venue of the establishment of the Local Leadership Group, community-based activists that will work on housing related challenges with a focus on reducing all kinds of inequalities, including access to water, electricity and basic services.

The months-long work of the Commission for Amending the Law on Housing, with substantial involvement and support from Habitat Macedonia, gained particular attention with the multi-stakeholder debate organized on December 7, 2022.

Jointly organized by HFH EME and Habitat Macedonia under the REELIH project, the two day webinar titled: Energy efficiency and residential buildings management in Central and Eastern Europe: analytical approach in scaling up renovation of multi-apartment buildings, has been organized as an online promotional event on June 1-2, 2022.

Nationwide housing database converted into web app

New Habitat Macedonia web tool was presented to nationwide audience on February 15, 2022. The effort was praised by a number of central and local government officials that attended the online event.
