A Habitat Family practices energy efficiency at their renovated home
Welcome in our warm home!
Mišto alen ko amaro kher! - says Aneta Azir, smiling and meeting us at the entrance of her home. The home that altered by its beauty and calmness compared to the neighboring houses in the Roma block. Aneta is young ambitious and likeable woman. She welcomed us smiling and saluted us in Roma language - “welcome to our warm home”. And indeed, despite the house seemed to be modern and it looked like it was built according the construction standards, the thing that made as felt welcome was the warmness of the family home. And that warmness in the Aneta’s home was completed with the smiles of her husband, the two sons and the daughter.
Aneta has the most important role in the family and she shared with us the pleasant experience she had with Habitat Macedonia team. She says that the microfinance program has provided her to have warm home, which could not be heated previously at all. “We were more frozen, than warmed”, continues to talk Anеta. Nevertheless, the thing she especially emphasizes as the biggest support from Habitat is that they learned that it’s important to have signed contract with contractors precisely defining the results and schedule. “And that is the technical part, for which I have unlimited support from the good people in Habitat”, says Anеta and adds – “But the thing that really makes my soul warm is having indeed warm home for my children. I didn’t know what the energy efficiency was, but I know that before reconstruction we could not warm our house and now we are succeeding to warm it with less energy used. Previously, the entire efforts were made to warm our house inside, was blown out and the old windows and doors could not keep us warm, but on contrary we felt it was cooling us. And now, we have new windows and doors and the interventions made we can say we know what is warmness and what is normal and decent life. I’ve learned what the energy efficient home meant and I’m enjoying my home” – concludes Aneta.
Aneta’s family is just one of the 2,000 low-income families supported by the micro-finance program in cooperation with Horizonti, to whom Habitat Macedonia helped to build simple, decent and affordable homes. Because everyone deserves it.
